Philosophy of Care

Little Dreamers Family Daycare Philosophy:
My philosophy of early childhood education is that children are teaching us just as much as we are teaching them. In the first five years they are growing and learning by leaps and bounds. As they grow into preschoolers they become so full of questions and ideas, and sometimes showing intense fascination in a variety of topics. When they ask these questions or tell us their ideas, it gives us an opportunity to see the world through their understanding. As teachers we walk with them on this beginning journey of learning, guiding and setting the foundation for all the learning that is to follow. This is why it is vital to nurture their growth and development so they can grow up to be the best version of themselves.

Important practices in my early childhood classroom and program are maintaining a safe and engaging environment, helping children navigate through their emotions, and achieving learning through play. Lessons are planned that are developmentally appropriate and suited to each child’s individual needs. Time is taken to get to know each child individually and what interest they have as each child is unique.

My goals for the children in my care are to give them the freedom to explore safely, to learn by play, to make mistakes in a loving, non-judgmental environment, and to experience the world using an emphasis on books, art, dramatic play, music, movement, and nature.

I strongly believe in the philosophy that it takes a village to raise a child. For this reason, it is my goal for families to be collaborative partners to help provide the best educational experience possible. Part of creating a collaborative atmosphere is forming a strong bond with the parents as well as the child. I foster this relationship by communicating regularly, having a welcoming environment, and inviting them to help me set yearly goals for their child.
